Lowndes Welcomes Two New Associates
Lowndes is pleased to announce that Gerardo Ortega and Andrew Powell have joined the firm as associates in the firm’s Orlando office.
Ortega focuses his practice on all aspects of commercial real estate, from acquisition and disposition to development, exchange, finance, and leasing. He has successfully handled complex transactions in more than 15 states and internationally, encompassing properties ranging from $1 million to over $100 million. His diverse clientele includes developers, family businesses, private equity firms, lenders, REITs, corporations, and individual investors.
Recognized as a “Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyers, Ortega also brings a wealth of experience in negotiating and drafting a wide range of agreements, including licensing, services, and employment agreements, as well as forming entities and crafting operating agreements, consents, resolutions, and certificates. He earned his law degree from Emory University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Powell centers his practice on estate planning, business succession planning, charitable gift planning, taxation matters, and the administration of trusts and estates. He provides clients with personalized, tax-efficient solutions designed to preserve and maximize generational wealth. He also counsels clients on estate planning considerations for closely held businesses, charitable gift planning, and private foundations, as well as the use of donor-advised funds and charitable trust structures that allow clients to make a meaningful impact on their preferred causes while optimizing tax benefits.
Additionally, Powell also provides guidance and support throughout the probate and trust administration processes, ensuring that estates and trusts are administered efficiently and precisely as intended by the decedent. He earned his LLM from the University of Florida, his JD and his MBA from Wake Forest University, and his undergraduate degree from Boston College.
