Shareholder Rebecca Wilson was quoted in a recent GrowthSpotter article regarding a lawsuit filed against Orange County over development rights associated with the Shadow Pines Planned Development east of Bithlo.

The property owners contend that development entitlements approved in 1974 remain valid today and have been recognized by the County through various actions over the past five decades. The dispute arose after Orange County denied the owners' request for a vested rights certificate related to approximately 74 acres within the Honey Bee Ranch property.

Lowndes represents the landowners in the matter. Wilson noted that the case raises important questions regarding vested rights, government approvals, and the protection of property rights when landowners have relied on longstanding development entitlements.
