Lawmakers Strengthen Affordable Housing Tax Breaks in Live Local Act, as Developers Line Up to Claim Millions

Shareholder Brendan Lynch was quoted in a March 18 GrowthSpotter article analyzing whether recent amendments to Florida’s Live Local Act could invalidate local government resolutions opting out of workforce housing tax exemptions.

Lynch noted that some opt-out resolutions for the 2026 tax year may have been adopted too early, before updated housing data was released.

“The data they need to use is the 2025 study for 2026, and they adopted the resolution too early,” Lynch said. “So I think there is a clear argument that those resolutions at some point need to be voided, whether that’s on their own accord or because they were requested to do so by someone that is impacted.”
