President Grants Governor’s Request for Major Disaster Declaration
By: Ferran Arimon & Tara Tedrow
On Wednesday afternoon, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that President Trump has granted Florida’s request for a FEMA disaster declaration. DeSantis made the request of the President on Monday and it includes considerable additional federal relief as discussed here.
DeSantis reiterated the importance of senior citizens and those with underlying health issues staying at home and emphasized the need for travelers arriving from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut to self-isolate after arriving in Florida. However, earlier on Wednesday DeSantis stressed that he has no plan to issue a sweeping stay-at-home order across Florida.
