Overview

Jon Gibbs is the co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Services Group and represents clients in a variety of intellectual property matters, including licensing, litigation, auditing, and due diligence. 

He conducts due diligence investigations in connection with intellectual property transactions, negotiates and drafts intellectual property transfer and license agreements, and documents co-existence agreements.

Jon has litigated a large number of intellectual property disputes in court, numerous matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and multiple domain name disputes domestically and internationally under applicable domain-name dispute-resolution policies.

In his practice, Jon assists clients with brand management strategies, selection and clearance of trademarks and service marks, policing and enforcement issues and securing rights in proprietary discoveries and works through patent, copyright and trade secret protection.

He conducts due diligence and audit investigations in connection with intellectual property transactions and negotiates intellectual property transfer, license, and co-existence agreements.

Jon is also an instrument rated general aviation pilot and a United States Coast Guard licensed Captain.

  • Representation of automated warehousing system manufacturer in patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation action against competitor for competitor's manufacture and sale of infringing warehousing system.
  • Representation of fertilizer company in patent infringement action against competitor for competitor's infringing method of fertilizer manufacture.

  • Representation of multi-platinum recording group in trademark infringement, unfair competition, cyber-piracy and breach of contract action brought by former management companies.
  • Representation of transportation companies in trademark, trade dress, and unfair competition claims against taxicab companies and independent taxicab driver-owners for infringement of client's trademarks and trade dress.
  • Representation of national automobile association in trademark infringement and unfair competition action against mortgage company for use of infringing business and domain name.
