Lowndes Advises Kimaya Real Estate on Mixed-Use Project in Oviedo
Lowndes provided zoning and land use counsel to Orlando-based Kimaya Real Estate for the development of a mixed-use apartment community in Oviedo, Fla. The project would include more than 170 age-restricted (55 and older) units including more than 6,000 square feet for commercial space. The project marks the first age-restricted community development in the City of Oviedo.
In a narrow 3-2 vote, the council approved the change in the land use designation and Planned Unit Development (PUD) rezoning for the 9.62-acre parcel of land along Lockwood Boulevard and County Road 419. Previously approved for more than 96,000 sf of commercial uses, the parcel’s successful rezoning provides for increased open space, a decrease in potential traffic trips and a unique housing option for residents.
Lowndes attorney Logan Opsahl represented Kimaya during the approval process.
