Senior Housing News recently reported on what is a growing trend among senior housing owners/operators seeking to maximize occupancy by developing niche communities catering to specific interest groups.

As the article notes, there have long been senior living communities geared towards former military members and religious faiths, but those categories of affinity are now expanding into things like LGBTQ-specific communities, environmentally conscious consumers, and communities marketed towards specific ethnic groups (such as a community geared towards South Asian and Indian older adults).
