We have always serviced a substantial number of international individuals and businesses. In 1992, the practice of immigration and nationality was added to our firm to further assist clients with this increasingly complex area of federal administrative law.
This practice focuses on providing legal advice to corporate and individual clients seeking assistance in securing temporary work authorization for foreign nationals, U.S. permanent residency (“green card” status) and U.S. citizenship. We represent clients throughout the U.S. in filing with the U.S. Department of Labor, the Department of State, as well as the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. We also represent many of our clients before U.S. consular offices overseas.
Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed represents small and large corporations, as well as individuals seeking family-based and business-related visas. Our client base is quite diverse, including computer analysts, engineers, business managers, students, registered nurses and physical therapists, religious workers, entrepreneurs, Olympic gymnastics coaches and professional athletes, among many others interested in making the U.S. home. We evaluate all options available for each client individually through initial meetings and detailed document review, and then assist the individual and/or employer in preparing and filing petitions to secure visas.
Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed has a great deal of experience in dealing with international corporations employing numerous foreign national employees, and works closely with human resources personnel to track and plan for such employees. We guide human resources department in the laws related to employer sanctions for unauthorized employment of foreign nationals and the government requirements for properly hiring foreign national employees.
Our immigration department works closely with international tax, estate planning, corporate and real estate planning attorneys at the firm, offering full service to our foreign national clients. We also are pleased to assist other attorneys and law firms inexperienced in this area and have been called upon many times in this regard.
