WILLIAM T. DYMOND, JR. Tapped as Firm Leader
02.01.2008
ORLANDO, FL – On February 1, 2008, William T. Dymond, Jr. became the president, CEO and managing partner of the Orlando law firm of Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. Dymond is a long-time partner at the firm, having joined it following his graduation from University of North Carolina School of Law in 1985. His legal practice is concentrated in the areas of business and commercial real estate with a focus on lodging and resort transactions. The firm's hospitality practice, of which Dymond is team leader, has handled more than $10 billion in client transactions throughout the U.S. and Canada in recent years.
Dymond is an active and well-known community leader. He is a past president and chairman of Florida Citrus Sports (FCS), and currently serves on its executive committee. He recently played a leading role in the organization’s efforts to secure funding for the major renovation of the Citrus Bowl. Dymond, also, was the lead negotiator in securing the multi-year Bowl contracts with the Big 10, SEC and ACC Conferences and with ABC Sports to broadcast the games. Dymond spent many years as a Heart of Florida United Way executive committee and board member, and serves as the organization’s legal counsel. He is a past chairman of the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and has served in various leadership capacities for that organization, including a leading role in helping the Chamber secure a home in the new Winter Park Welcome Center. A dedicated family man, Dymond, his wife, Jennifer, and their three children, Michael, 18, Jenna, 16, and Corinne, 13 reside in Winter Park.
Previous managing partner Nicholas A. Pope, who held the position for 10 years, states that in early 2006 he asked the partners of the firm to begin a process designed to identify his successor with the target date of February 2008. He explains that this allowed time both for the selection process and for a planned transition to take place. "This is a healthy process for the firm to undertake from time to time and it is particularly good to make the transition at a time when the firm is doing as well as it is today. I am looking forward to my return to the full-time practice of law, as well as to Bill’s dynamic leadership of the firm,” Pope stated. Pope became the firm's managing partner in 1998, replacing John F. Lowndes, who continues serving the firm as founding partner and chairman of the board.
Dymond states, "I am honored and humbled by the trust my partners have placed in me and am excited about the opportunity to lead such a talented and dedicated group of professionals."
