Representative Client Experience
- Tried over 50 jury cases to verdict. Substantial non jury experience (over 200 non-jury trials) and experience in alternative dispute resolution techniques, including mediation and arbitration.
- Defended numerous consumer and personal injury class actions, including on behalf of the City of Orlando and The Sharper Image.
- Lead counsel for Lockheed Martin against Boeing in one of the largest trade secret theft cases in U.S. history.
- Tried over 50 railroad defense cases to verdict, resulting in substantial trial experience and experience in alternative dispute resolution techniques, including mediation and arbitration.
- Tried and won the largest single wrongful death verdict at the time in the history of Florida, recovering a $2.7 million verdict involving a 22-car interstate collision in 1982.
- Tired and won largest award ($11 million) against Orange County in a personal injury case in 2003.
- More than twenty years experience in personal injury work, commercial litigation, and high-end domestic work.
- Lead trial counsel in a case against Mercedes Benz which resulted in a $20 million award enforcing the rights of a dealer against Mercedes in order to sell its dealership interest. Certiorari was denied by the United States Supreme Court.
- As lead counsel, defended several commercial class actions involving toxic torts, unfair and deceptive trade practices, and investor fraud.
- As lead trial counsel, defended the Orlando NBA franchise (Orlando Magic) in a reverse discrimination/defamation case that had been ongoing for eight years. Plaintiff, a former assistant coach, demanded $20 million. Jury returned defense verdict after a month of trial.
- As lead trial counsel, defended Seminole County in an absentee ballot election case stemming from the 2000 Presidential Election. Worked closely with the Bush-Cheney team.
- Defended the City of Orlando in a purported class action case brought by firefighters claiming inadequate medical care. Won over $200,000 fee award against plaintiffs’ attorneys for filing a frivolous action.
- Represented several celebrities, including Brooke Gordon (married to Jeff Gordon, NASCAR race car driver) and John Walsh (host of John Walsh Show and America’s Most Wanted), professional athletes and international entrepreneurs in domestic matters.
- Handled through trial, both as plaintiff and defendant, numerous cases involving patent, copyright and intellectual property rights for such clients as The Sharper Image, Kreepy Krawler Pool Cleaners, and QVC Network.
- Handled personal injury and wrongful death cases on behalf of claimants resulting in awards or settlements exceeding $50 million.
